Elephant’s Eye
Thanks to Lea’s (Imar’s cousin) initiative, we were able to take advantage of one of Cape Town’s beautiful Autumn days. We headed off, all four of us crammed into the Jimny, to Silvermine Nature Reserve which is situated along Ou Kaapse Weg. There we met Lea and Jaco and soon started off on our little adventure. It is really a beautiful walk. It’s like a sensory overload. You get to enjoy the scenery, bird life, flowers and the nature whilst walking on a reasonably easy path to the lookout point for Elephants Eye. Along the way we stopped along the river and had a delicious picnic treat. Freshly baked scones, oranges and mango. Yummy! Once we reached the end of the path and were able to catch our breath we were entertained by a beautiful Verreaux’s Eagle soaring just below us with out a care in the world. A stark contrast to the Pollsmoor prisoners in their orange uniforms, which you can see in the background.
I love the photos – looks like you all had the most fabulous time!
What a lovely Sunday afternoon! Thanks to all who contributed to the memory! Die Witkruisarend foto is ongelooflik mooi!
Beulah people, beulah views, beulah witkruis arend! Wish I could have been there too, but next time. Then we go have a braai or something!
Oh and what delish-looking scones!
Mmmmm…. wow, ‘bird’s eye view’ takes on a whole new meaning, doesn’t it!? Such a special interlude – thanks to all of you!!
